Slayers 2 Beginner Guide: Level 1 to Final Selection
This is the fastest early route in Slayers 2, reconstructed from the community's tested progression: bandit quests at the start, your first katana, bear farming for materials, breathing at level 25 and Final Selection at level 45. Follow it in order — the single biggest time sink for new players is skipping a prerequisite and having to walk back.

Step 1: Claim codes before anything else
Before grinding, redeem every active code — they give spins (clan rolls), Wen (money) and luck boosts. The launch codes alone fund your first katana and a few clan rolls. Two mechanical notes: join the Ouw Productions Roblox group first or codes silently fail, and fully restart Roblox after joining. Then spend a few spins on your clan right away — anything Legendary or better is worth keeping, and even a build-matched Rare (Urokodaki for Water, Sabito for Katana) beats a Common. Check the clan tier list before you roll, and roll in batches so you can compare.
Step 2: Levels 1-7 — the bandit chain at Windy Peak
You spawn in Windy Peak. Take the bandit quests from Krue at the gate — they chain from level 1 to about 7 and each turn-in pays Wen. Fight in groups of two or three bandits and back off to regenerate rather than dying, because death sends you back to spawn. At level 7 the chain ends with the Bandit Boss Zuko: bring full HP, dodge the overhead swing and hit during the recovery. His boss drop (a reported 20% chance) is the Cutlass, which carries a weapon skill and is worth farming if you plan to katana main.
Do not rush out of the village when combat gets easy. Clear the side NPCs: Kona's five Lost Pages quest rewards the Book of Guidance, which points at your next quest and prevents the "I levelled up but nothing new unlocked" trap. The spy-identification quest in the back area matters too — community reports say skipping the village storyline can block later progression.
Step 3: Buy a katana (500 Wen), then the fancy one (1,500)
The basic katana at Raze's stand in Windy Peak costs 500 Wen and roughly doubles your damage over fists. The fancy katana is 1,500 Wen from the same vendor — buy it before the bear area, not after. A common beginner mistake is spending Wen on cosmetics or early upgrades before the fancy katana; the weapon pays for itself in kill speed within minutes.
Step 4: Levels 7-13 — Kona side quests
Kona in Windy Peak gives repeatable side quests that fill the gap between the bandit boss and the bear zone. They are boring but safe. Pick up every drop as you go — demon horns and beast cores from early kills count toward the breathing fees you will pay at 25, and most players are short on both when they arrive at the trainer.
Step 5: Levels 13-25 — bear farming
The Bear Area opens at level 13 with Tom's bear quests; the Mother Bear fight lands at 18 (other players can attack you during it). Bears hit hard but are slow: circle, strike twice, dodge. The two material caves matter as much as the EXP — Beast Cores drop from Beast Demons at the Mistfall Harbor village gate at night, and Demon Horns come from the demons in the cave beneath the bear area. Most breathing trainers ask for one or both, so farm them while you level instead of making a dedicated trip later.
Step 6: Level 25 — pick a breathing style
This is the biggest decision of the early game. Read the breathing tier list and the per-style cost table first: Thunder and Sound hold the top consensus, Water is the friendliest for new players, and Wind is the fastest riser after the V0.2 buffs. Fees run 3,500-7,000 Wen plus horns and cores. Match the style to the clan you rolled — Agatsuma only shines on Thunder, Kocho on Insect. Then follow the how-to-get-breathing guide to your trainer and clear the six training tasks (five mini-games plus the trainee fight). Reaching the NPC alone does not unlock anything.
Step 7: Levels 25-45 — forms, Wen and the Butterfly Mansion
Each form unlocks with levels and Wen, so keep farming the highest-level area you can survive — Bamboo Grove and Mistfall Harbor pay through this whole window. Use the medic at the Butterfly Mansion to heal between runs instead of buying consumables. Ren's gourd shop there raises Slayer Progress, which gates later slayer ranks. If you still have spins, now is the time to match your clan to your style — see the reroll guide for the stopping rules.
Step 8: Level 45 — Final Selection
At level 45 you can enter Final Selection, the slayer exam: a chain of quest NPCs (fruit collection, demon kills, a katana recovery, a parkour dungeon, a timed mountain run and a rescue) ending with the Hand Demon. Passing gives you the Mizunoto rank, the slayer uniform and your Kasugai Crow, and opens the mid-game. Community advice is to bring healing, a breathing style with at least two or three forms unlocked, and to treat around level 60 as the comfortable solo level — the exam itself opens at 45.
The demon path alternative
You can skip breathing entirely and become a demon: drop your reputation to -40, find Muzan at night, collect nine Spider Lilies and complete the doctor escort. You lose access to breathing styles and Final Selection, and gain a blood demon art roll plus night power. Community consensus: slayers are easier to build deliberately, demons have the higher damage ceiling. Read How to Become a Demon and Demon or Slayer before committing — switching back costs you.
Common beginner mistakes
- Spending Wen on cosmetics before the fancy katana — the weapon is the first real power spike.
- Rolling clans one at a time instead of in batches, so you never see the comparison.
- Picking a breathing style because of the anime rather than the tier list and your clan.
- Ignoring the Lost Pages quest and stalling out at 13 with no quest marker.
- Skipping the material caves while bear farming, then paying for a second trip at 25.
- Entering Final Selection at 45 with one breathing form — bring two or three.
After Final Selection
The cap is 225 and the route continues: guard quests at 40, the faction split at 62, the snow region at 90, and repeatable Crow quests from 125. The level 65 forge quest in Hidden Mist Village unlocks the Ouwigahara dungeon — the first real gear check. The full bracket-by-bracket version is in the leveling guide.
