Stone Breathing A
Trainer Gyorei · 5 forms · Unlocks at level 25 · Slayer path only
Stone is the tank style: slower forms with defensive frames, hyper armor on the ultimate and reliable guard-breaking pressure. Despite the name, the Himejima clan has no Stone-specific bonus — pick Himejima for the tank passives, not the pairing. The Axe and Mace set replaces the standard katana plan.
Where this tier comes from: A on the cross-source median, but xyz-era community reports place it B and PGG's V0.2 notes describe guard-break buffs. Solid, never flashy.

The training tasks
Gyorei sets six tasks: the shared five, plus a field task and a final fight with the Stone Trainee. The tasks unlock one at a time and the quest marker leads to each training area.
- Meditation — Butterfly Mansion, second-room mat. Click each time the moving bar crosses the white marker until the meter fills.
- Cup Training — Butterfly Mansion, third-room mat. Pick the cup hiding the coin 10 times — a wrong pick costs one of three lives and the shuffle speeds up each round.
- Push Ups — Butterfly Mansion, push-up mat. Click each white circle as the inner ring touches its edge. Standing up with a red aura means the set failed.
- Aim Training — Butterfly Mansion, shooting range. Click the targets as they pop up on the boards.
- Field task — Varies by style (Boulder Split, parkour dungeon, underwater rocks…). Each style has one field task before the final fight — follow the quest marker.
- Trainee fight — Your trainer's training ground. Beat the style's Trainee NPC to unlock the style, then spend skill points on its forms in the Skill Tree.
Task spots follow the shared Butterfly Mansion mini-games reported across the breathing guides; each style's field task differs. Winning the trainee fight unlocks the style — then open the Skill Tree and spend your points on the forms.

Best clans for Stone Breathing
Himejima
Mythic · Tier ATanky melee and M1-heavy builds that mix skills into swings, for PvP and bosses. It has no Stone Breathing bonus despite the name — the tank passives are the reason to pick it.
Kamado
Supreme · Tier SThe safest all-round pick for almost any build. Demons get the most from it: Sun Immunity frees a gear slot and Regen Adrenal only works on the demon path. V0.2 removed Headbutt's guard break, but the stat package still leads.
Urokodaki
Rare · Tier AThe strongest Rare clan by consensus — an easy Water Breathing pick: passive Water damage and stamina savings with nothing to activate, plus strong defence if you wear a mask. Stop rerolling if you get this and plan to play Water.

What is the best clan for Stone Breathing?

How Stone Breathing compares to the other styles
Within the tier list, Stone Breathing's identity is its best defensive frames in the game. The honest way to compare styles is by what they demand of you: Thunder demands hit-and-run discipline, Flame punishes whiffed openers, Water rewards patience, Serpent and Insect reward spacing, Stone rewards commitment, Wind rewards aggression, and Sound rewards positioning in group fights. None of that shows up in a tier letter — but all of it decides whether a style works for you. The fee matters too: at 4,000 Wen, Stone Breathing is one of the cheaper unlocks, which softens the risk of trying it.
Skill tree order for Stone Breathing
The style unlocks as a kit, but skill points decide how fast it becomes dangerous. The community-tested order: Form 1 first — your opener (Stone Skin) is the move you land most often, so its damage scales your whole game. Form 2 next (Upper Smash) for combo continuation, then Wall Climb and Double Jump if you have not bought them yet (trainer access and Final Selection both need them). Forms 3-5 (Boulder Breaker, Ground Splitter, Mountain Crash) follow as Wen allows — the last two forms are the biggest single jumps but also the most expensive, so take them when farming pays comfortably rather than at the edge of your balance. Every form sits on its own cooldown, which means each new form adds uptime, not just damage: by form three you should rarely be auto-attacking while waiting.
Where Stone Breathing shines — and where it struggles
Best content for Stone Breathing
- Its niche content — best defensive frames in the game defines the matchup.
- Boss farming — its opener punishes the moments bosses stand still.
- Quest waves — guard-break pressure rewards committed offense keeps the pack clear moving.
- Dungeon runs — consistent forms pair well with damage-boosting cards.
Matchups to respect
- −Slowest style in the game
- −Weak wave clear for quests
- −Axe and Mace set is a specific grind
- −Facing an S-tier style without your own answer to it
The practical read: Stone Breathing rewards boss play, and its weaknesses are all punish windows — slowest style in the game. Every style in the game can beat every other in the right hands; tier lists describe the cost of getting there, not a verdict.
